Fort Scott has a wonderful historic past. It is located in the little Ozark region of Southeast Kansas. Fort Scott has many local attractions, for almost anyones taste of activity. The history buffs can tour the National Historic site Fort Scott. The Fort offers many authenticated re-enactments with complete uniformed and mounted garrison and their lovely ladies in hoops and bonnets and lace. A Trolley Tour is available thru the Chamber of Commerce that takes you on a tour of the Victorian homes, that are prominent in the community and also takes you thru Fort Scott�s National Cemetery. http://www.fortscott.com/

The immediate surrounding area of the Hotel & Day Spa has many Antique shops, with lots of wonderful treasures for you to discover. There are 5 restaurants with-in walking distance that offer a wide variety of foods. There is the Kress Tea Room with Fine local cuisine, Rusty�s Sports Bar & Grill, El Charro�s Mexican Restaurant, Main Street Chop House Barbeque, and Papa Don�s Pizza.

If you are interested in outdoor activities, Fort Scott has one of the most beautiful well-maintained parks you will find anywhere. Gunn Park, 155 acres, was established in 1910 when W.C. Gunn donated additional property to the existing Fern Park, which had been established in 1905. The park has two small lakes, Paddleboats and Canoe rental, 6 shelter houses, 6 Playgrounds and lots of scenic viewing.

There are two larger lakes that the City operates which are not in Gunn Park. Both Lake Fort Scott and Rock Creek have good fishing. Lake Fort Scott has Skiing and other water Sports capabilities, where Rock Creek is for fishing (bank or boat) and other slower boating activities.
